In the same 2020 episode of I Live Alone, the actor talks about inviting his mum to visit his place for the first time ever in 17 years. This is because, in the past, he thought his place was too small for his parents to see. Ahn shared his difficulties on living alone in Seoul, adding that, “I couldn’t live the life that my parents expected for me.”
In the episode, Ahn said he had to work multiple jobs, including becoming a part-time deliveryman. On one occasion, he recalled, his place was flooded with water reaching mid-calf due to a typhoon.
Hearing this, his mother replied in the same episode: “I knew that he’d had a hard time, but I didn’t know it was that bad,” before adding that she was very proud of him for coming so far.

In a Q&A interview on his YouTube channel, Ahn said one of the most important things he looks for in a woman is someone who respects the elderly. “Respecting elders and having good manners, that’s my ideal type. Not only respecting their own parents but being respectful to all elders in general,” he said.
